Coloplast’s Implementation of Inergen for Fire Protection

Coloplast is a global company that develops products and services designed to make life easier for people with intimate and private medical conditions. The business encompasses ostomy care, continence care, wound and skin care, urology care, and respiratory care.

With a team of around 14,500 employees, Coloplast handles enormous amounts of data, making fire protection for their infrastructure, customer data, and related assets a key priority.

The Challenge

Coloplast required a fire protection solution that was not only efficient but also aligned with their values of sustainability and minimal harm to both people and equipment. Given the volume of data they handle, the potential for fire damage presented a significant risk. Quick detection and extinguishment of potential fires was paramount in preventing major disasters.

The Solution

Coloplast chose Inergen, a product by Fire Eater, as a sustainable and cost-effective solution to their fire protection needs. Notably, Inergen is non-toxic, making it an excellent fit with Coloplast’s sustainability values. Moreover, Inergen’s firefighting method does not damage electrical equipment, which was a critical factor for a data-intensive company like Coloplast.

Results

After integrating the first two Inergen units into their operations, Coloplast experienced firsthand the product’s alignment with their standards of sustainability, non-toxicity, and non-corrosiveness. With no need for daily maintenance, the system’s implementation also significantly reduced the operational overhead for the Coloplast team.

Fire Eater proved themselves to be a trustworthy and knowledgeable resource in the field of fire suppression systems. Their comprehensive introductory day, complete with a compelling live demonstration, was instrumental in securing Coloplast’s confidence in the system. Moreover, Fire Eater demonstrated exceptional assistance in integrating their systems into Coloplast’s proprietary Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system.

Future Plans

Coloplast is considering Inergen for future projects given the successful implementation and its alignment with their sustainability values.
