Fire protection of warehouses

Firefighting with Inergen prevents fire and consequential damage

If a fire breaks out in a warehouse, damage to the goods stored may be rapid. Production stops and there is inevitable downtime. It can quickly become very expensive – not just owing to the fire damage itself, but also to the secondary damage, from foam or deluge water for example.

With Inergen, you get a fire extinguishing solution that optimises your storage capacity and extinguishes fire rapidly and efficiently – without consequential damage.

5 good reasons for using Inergen fire protection in warehouses

  • Early detection of fire.

  • Effective ‘3D extinguishing’ – with minimal risk of re-ignition.

  • Safe to stay in the warehouse when the system is active.

  • No consequential damage to goods and other materials – quick resumption of operations.

  • Optimal utilisation of shelf space and storage height – no distance requirements between nozzles and goods.

Effective fire protection for warehouses

A fire protection solution for a warehouse must not only be able to prevent fire damage but also ensure that there is no consequential damage, such as from deluge water or foam.

Inergen consists of 100% natural gases, which are present in the atmosphere. It therefore causes no consequential damage to goods and materials, and, unlike traditional solutions with water and foam, does not leave you with an extensive clean-up job. This means that you can continue operations in a warehouse immediately after an Inergen system has been utilised. Most important of all, however, is that it is safe for employees to be in the warehouse when the Inergen is released into the room.

Why use Inergen for firefighting?

The fire is extinguished quickly – typically in 40 seconds.
No re-ignition later. The fire is completely extinguished.
Completely harmless to humans and equipment.
Prevents any secondary damage.

How Inergen Works in warehouse buildings

A Fire Eater Inergen system uses sensitive detectors that respond automatically to fire. The system releases the Inergen via nozzles that are typically placed in the ceiling. Since there is no minimum distance requirement from nozzles to shelves, you can benefit from utilising the maximum height capacity.

An Inergen system employs ‘3D extinguishing’. This means that the gas – released under pressure –distributes itself throughout the warehouse, under stacks, over shelves, behind and inside cupboards, in electrical panels and even in rubbish bins; even tall stacks up to a certain height can be protected from the ceiling. Nor is there any need for pipes to cover specific shelves. After the Inergen system has been installed, you can alter the lay-out of shelves and corridors at will. The Inergen nozzles do not have to be placed directly above the stacks. This makes the system extremely effective and particularly suitable for warehouse buildings.
